The mission of End HIV Oklahoma is to facilitate programs that will eradicate new infections of HIV in the State of Oklahoma.

Dedicated to ending the epidemic.

END HIV Oklahoma

In 2021 there were almost 400 people diagnosed with HIV in Oklahoma.

What puts you at risk?
If you have sex or otherwise exchange body fluids, you can be at risk for contracting HIV.

Only those who are abstinent, having sex with one partner who is HIV negative, or HIV positive and undetectable and taking HIV medication are not at substantial risk.

Those at higher risk include:
Men who have sex with men (MSM) .
Black MSM have a 50% chance of getting HIV in their lifetime .
Hispanic MSM have a 25% chance of getting HIV in their lifetime.
People who use IV drugs .

Anyone who has sex with someone who has sex with other people of unknown HIV status.

Our Pathway to the End

End HIV OK provides support to a number of programs focused on the following pillars.

Know Your Status!

The number one thing that everyone can do to prevent HIV exposure is to know your status and the status of those you are sexually engaging wth.

  • If you have ever had sex you should be tested once.
  • If you have had sex with more than one partner since your last HIV test, or
  • If you are a sexually active gay or bisexual male or have sex with bisexual men you should be tested every 3 - 6 months.
  • If you have sex with an HIV positive partner and not on PrEP you should be tested regularly
  • If you use IV drugs and share needles or preparation equipment you should be tested regularly
  • If you have had a sexually transmitted infection, hepatitis, or tuberculosis you should be tested regularly

Access to Post Exposure Prophylaxis (PEP)

Been Exposed (or possibly exposed) to HIV in the past 72 hours?

Non-occupational Post Exposure Prophylaxis (nPEP) is available to prevent a person who is exposed to HIV from becoming positive. It is imperative that you start medication as soon as possible and within 72 hours of exposure. You are at substantial risk for acquiring HIV if you have had exposure of the vagina, anus/rectum, eye, mouth, or other mucous membrane, non-intact skin or a needle stick with blood, semen, vaginal secretions, rectal secretions, breast milk, or any body fluid that is visibly contaminated with blood. If you know or are unsure if the person you have contact has HIV nPEP is your best means of staying HIV negative.

Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP) for those at Risk.

Don't become a statistic. With PrEP you can prevent yourself from contracting HIV. Take control of your risk by getting a sexual health consultation and get PrEP prescribed during your visit. PrEP is over 95% effective at preventing HIV transmission if taken as directed. The side effects are low and through partnerships between medical providers, pharmacies and drug manufacturers we can almost always get the needed laboratory studies and medication even if you are not insured. If you are insured there are programs to cover co-pays so there is little if any out of pocket expense. Book your sexual health visit today to address HIV and any other sexual health issues keeping you from enjoying your life.

Access to Rapid and Consistent Treatment if HIV Positive because U=U

It can be scary when you are told that you are HIV positive. Although HIV is a serious diagnosis and can lead to AIDS there are many medical treatments that can reduce the chances of getting AIDS and even get you to where you are undetectable and therefore not able to transmit the virus. Diversity Family Health is here to help. We will work with the closest community-based organization or your healthcare provider to get you cared for and on your way to undetectable.

End HIV Oklahoma is a non-profit organization dedicated to ending the epidemic of HIV in Oklahoma. Through our programs and funding, we strive to provide support, education, and resources to individuals affected by HIV and AIDS.
